History Will Transform You!

I’ve often wondered why the Protestant churches don’t teach history- not even church history. It’s for the same reason that the Catholic church issued Mass in Latin, and didn’t want their parishioners to read the Bible. It’s all about CONTROL! And it still is about CONTROL in many ways: in morality, doctrine, culture, and civil behavior. All the while though behind closed doors $600,000,000 crimes are being committed. It’s not limited to the Roman Catholic Church though. A real definition of church or government is CONTROL.

Here is my bet. I am a student of history by proclivity and also by college training. I can tell you about Russian history, French, English, and differing centuries within each of those. And I’ve been a Christian for more than 4 decades, but I knew NADA about church history, other than a few “religious landmarks“.

Why?

1-Living by “faith” you know it all, so I was told.
2-The Bible was inerrant so who needed more study about that which was infallible?
3-Studying religion outside of the Bible would introduce you to “other religions” that might defile you!
4-And if God wanted me to know something more than that which was in the Bible, He’s tell me.

All a bunch of religious control crap!

To know the history of the church is to transform you- change you. It will cause you to rethink what you believe (making your faith real!). It will make you a trouble maker in the church because you’ll want to ask QUESTIONS that the leaders don’t want you to ask. They, themselves don’t have the answers, but they’re afraid of what they might find.

Besides, church clergy know it all- or pretend they do!

You can’t take away from Jesus by studying history, You can only take away your false religious pride and ignorance. Forget the fact that 95% of those who call themselves Christians can’t quote the Ten Commandments (let alone in order), but they can’t tell you HOW the books of the Bible came to BE the books of the Bible.

But they’re Christians! Right!

Only with a healthy inquisitorial approach to Jesus, the Christ, can one call themselves a follow of Him. Until then, one is just a follower of a denomination, or a secular culture that claims it’s religiosity is valid, when in fact, it’s just a secular “dusting of the religious“.
