As I sit on my patio this Sunday morning with the temperatures in the 60’s (finally!), several thoughts came to me about my last Friday’s message. And while you can listen to the whole thing free come Monday on the Podcasts section which Shawn usually has posted by noon Monday, I wanted to at least solidify a couple of points (highlights?) for me, if not for you. Here they are.
1-God is most DEFINED in Jesus, but He is not CONFINED to Jesus alone!
2-The Cross is more about the demonstration of God’s LOVE than it is about appeasing God’s WRATH!
3-If sin never had entered the world, God would still have needed to send “a Jesus” to show us who He really is.
4-When we say that God is love that means we’re saying that that God is impacted by us because love is compassionate and not impassive. We effect God as well as God touching us.
5-The primordial love (creative and static) of God works hand in hand with His consequent love (active and responsive).
6-The Cross makes all of our virtues questionable while assuring us in our sinfulness.
7-Primitive religions study the WILL of God so that God will preserve them while developed religions study the GOODNESS of God so that they might be like Him.
It’t past time for all who call themselves “Christian” (followers of Jesus) to graduate to the next grade. We weren’t called into kindergarten to remain there all our life. It’s where we begin, but not where we end.
Where are you?
