How Low Can We Go?

You have to ask yourself. Did he shoot 5 or 6 times? Is the gun empty or is there one shell left? Are you aware that we’ve been playing Russian roulette for way too long? Who knows if there’s a bullet in the chamber or not? When Paul said 2,000 years ago that there was a falling away going on (II Thes. 2:3), you have to wonder just how far away we’ve fallen- how low we can go?

Remember, we experienced the Dark Ages long ago. This 500 year or so period was trumped by the so-called Age of Enlightment, but is that so?

Martin Luther is said to have rescued the church from Cathloicism; however, there are many, many Catholics who’ll tell you that all the Protestants did was put a new name plate on the door, moved some furniture around, and continued the same style of living.

We may not be into the traditions as much; however, we still read the Word through the lens of our own denomination(s). It’s the reality of human intellect that we’re hampered and hindered by a set of philosophical glasses through which we strain and filter everything.

Deny all we want, it doesn’t change the truth!

F.W. Farrar said, “Most Christians are really a heretic who refuses to acknowledge their heresy.” I can’t be accused of that because I change out my heresies so often, who knows where I am? :-)
I don’t know how far off base we can go, how low a civilized nation can stoop, how many wars we can fight, how many groups we can despise, or how many “other religions” we can trample under foot. I think we’re getting closer to the answer, and I also think we shouldn’t be about trying to find out the answer.

The only “low” that we’ve been called to is, death: to self!

How’s that working for you right now?
