I Am That- I Am?

I AM is Christian code for our IDENTITY. One of the writers of the Pentateuch and according to the gospel of John, Jesus affirmed the, I AM concept. I AM is also the name that God gave Moses. More recently, New York Times Bestselling author James Twyman, has come to a conclusion that a simple COMMA holds the secret to, I AM.

The Moses Code website says that humans can now, “for the first time in 3,500 years” – “insert a comma” into the divine Name of God, I AM THAT, I AM (Exodus 3:14)] and see “miracles manifest”. Now, in the 21st century, we can begin to say, “I AM THAT , I AM “, and get what we want. I not that easy! But, such statements do sell books and movies.

Let’s begin with some simple basic concepts.

I AM is a statement of AWARENESS! We humanoids, unlike my Golden Retriever, are AWARE that we ARE. The most basic human need, whether you agree with Maslow or not, is to have a sense of IDENTITY. But, saying I AM or that I AM THAT doesn’t end it. We must know I AM WHAT? Religion has sought to go OUTSIDE for the answers.

In my early Christian walk, I knew my IDENTITY. I could say that I AM: a man, American, white, Christian, Protestant, Baptist, etc. And all of my early decisions in life were based on those BELIEFS. Those BELIEFS told me, forced me really, into BELIEVING things that those various sub-groups had determined were true. Thus I had a sense of security in who I WAS. I use past tense because I now no longer look to the OUTSIDE, but to the INSIDE, the spiritual nature of who I AM.

I AM: one with God, with you, with ALL.

I am a spirit being who was before I came here and will be once I leave here (read this physical shell called my body). I no longer follow the “ILLUSION of security” in creeds, doctrines, or words written. While I agree with many of those three, my IDENTITY comes from the, I AM that IS- and that always will BE. My faith and life come from HEARING what the Spirit-Consciousness of “the Source” has to say day by day!

Where’d you get your current identity that you embrace? :-)

  • There are many great verses in the Bible that have power to help us know who we are in Christ:

    1) more than conquerors–Romans 8:37
    2) accepted in the beloved–Ephesians 1:6
    3) not subject to condemnation–Romans 8:1

In addition to these verses, God has a wonderful way of telling each of His children individually who are are to Him. He saw Sarai (contentious) as Sarah, a princess (at the age of 90!). He knew Hadassah (myrtle) as Esther (a star). Jesus told Simon, the volatile fisherman, he was Peter, a rock.

The problem is, many of us dismiss the still, small voice of God because we see ourselves as less than He does. God’s children are more than we think we are! It’s time to ask Him for intimate, personal revelation and begin to believe the Lord whose every word is truth! My experience is when you start accepting God’s identity, your life changes dramatically.

  • Jesus said IT IS FINISHED! Already a done deal! Already AM!!!
FROM BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF TIME!

  • Absolutely love the way Richard Rohr said it in his commentary today as well as yours, Ernie.
In solitude, at last we’re able to let the Lord define us the way we are always supposed to be defined: by relationship, the I-thou relationship, in relation to a Presence that demands nothing of us but presence.

If we’ve never lived in the realm of pure presence without our world of achieving, we don’t know how to breathe there at first. And that’s precisely why the Lord has to breathe through us.

The Lord has to be our life. The Lord has to be our identity. At last, we allow ourselves to be defined by relationship instead of by the good—even the holy—things we’ve done.

  • Good stuff Barbara. God-Consciousness-Being IS our IDENTITY. The only question is will we AWAKEN to that reality (and to what degree) in this dimension or will we continue to medicate our fears and guilt with more religious injections.?

  • This day, I AM in paradise!

  • My son has always told me that he remembers to this day where he was before his birth. Being descended down the long stairwell and placed into something and opening his eyes and seeing his aunt looking at him saying wow! His aunt told me that when the baby, my son was being birthed, he looked at her, it was like he was aware, like he was trying to say something. Birth is only an event. Consciousness is always. My dad passed away 2 years ago. He left me a gift of his death and showed me transition and spoke to me right after he died consoling me and reminding me that he was still there and to just say his name he’ll be listening. His consciousness never went away. Death was the event but not the end, his energy is still with me today.
    This shell is very restrictive.
Now for some reason death is a wonder to look forward to knowing that I will be apart of a Collective Consciousness. Knowing..Being…Seeing.
This was even more of an awakening, I took a leap closer to my true being to the light within that wants to shine through my eyes into the world without.
Somehow Identity is happening to me. I’m not trying to make it happen. When I get off the path there is a gentle Guide that leads me back

  • Many are letting go & remembering”. We are not sinners from before and during birth. We are rays of “the Light”, offspring of the One-God-Consciousness-Source and realizing that (not intellectually) through EXPERIENCE is bringing humanity to a collective result that we simply cannot envision.
The catepillar is about to become a butterfly!

  • When Jesus said “It is finished”, He was referring to the work of the cross, which is reconciling man to God through His perfect sacrifice. There is an ongoing work in each of God’s children. Philipians 1:6 declares, “He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” Part of that good work is telling us who we are so that no storm can cause our identity to crumble. We need to continually remind ourselves of what the Spirit says to us individually as it’s the ingrafted word that saves our souls (James 1:21).

  • I don’t have to remind myself. He has already done it and is doing it in and through me!

  • I enjoy reading the comments as much as Ernie’s posting. It is interesting to read Linda’s comments, as I can remember myself making some of the same points years ago…

I love the comments from LRC members, too. It is in this holy conversation that our understanding can grow if our heart is ready.

I can just imagine Jesus confounding the Pharisees when he challenged them to understand the scriptures in a new way.

That’s what I see going on here.

  • U B right Elaine! :-)
The world only progresses through constructive antithesis. The greatest harm to our spiritual developemnt has thus been the CHURCH which has stifled all views and thoughts that didn’t match their doctrine. Intead of being the entity that explored the mystery of the Christos, the church became a control mechanism to keep eveyone in line- theirs! We continue to suffer when ANYONE thinks THEIR doctrine is the only RIGHT & FINAL word.

  • I have been in a meeting where the minister had a word for one of the men. He said, “You know what it’s like to be talked out of who you are.” I can identify with that statement. I’m guessing most Christians could, too, if they’re honest. We suffer because of unbelief, which infiltrates our thinking, including the issue of identity. Jesus’ hardest words were for those who walked in disbelief (Matthew 17:20; Mark 16:14).

The apostle Paul had to have an intimate, life-changing encounter with Jesus to begin to understand who he was, as he was going the wrong way. (Acts 9) Sometimes we have to be stopped in our tracts to hear from God. Peter had to be assured after he denied the Lord that he was still called to the ministry. Jesus affirmed his called three times in John 21:15-17. If these pillars of the faith needed to hear Jesus’ voice in order to know who they were, how much more do we need to listen to Him?

  • I enjoyed Tyman’s book. It has adjusted my thoughts about I AM. I AM making those affirmation thoughts each morning.
