The FEAR of something being TRUE that’s not found in a sacred book, be it the Bible, Koran, or Torah, is seemingly out of character for their founders. Jesus as an example was a SUBVERSIVE TEACHER. He was a cutting edge person, one who went against the customs and the religious leaders, encouraging the seeking of the esoteric Kingdom of God.
And yet when someone suggests or even “thinks” about a concept that’s not traditional or orthodox, those who call themselves a “follower of Jesus” exhibit habits that are just the opposite of who the historical Jesus WAS, and who the Christos IS. Most religions have built their books, established their territorial rights, determined their doctrines and DAMNED be any contrary opinions.
In fact, followers are to just BELIEVE- not THINK! 
French Priest, Andre Thevet was horrified when visiting Brazil in 1557 seeing how the Shamans were as he called it “ministers of the Devil”. Thevet felt like anyone’s quest to LEARN things outside the Bible was heresy (things haven’t changed much in 500 years have they?). He wrote in one of his journals, “What need is there to research with too much curiosity into the secrets of nature and other things, knowledge of which Our Lord has reserved for Himself? Such curiosities indicate an imperfect judgment, ignorance, and a lack of faith and good religious.â€
Good religion????
The Catholic church has done all that they could to destroy “foreign ideas” for centuries, be it through the Crusades, Inquisitions, or explorations into Central and South America: particularly the Incan civilization which they did all they could to completely desolate. Unfortunately too much of Catholic-Christian church history is filled with fear, prejudice, bias, and ETHINIC CLEANSING of one sort or another.
Isn’t it about time that we got back to the GOOD NEWS, the MESSAGE: God is LOVE?
Amen- I am reminded regularly by a family member of exactly what you have said today, too much curiosity into the secrets of nature and other things, knowledge of which Our Lord has reserved for Himself. I was told this week by my fundamentalist son, after seeing the titles and authors from my library, that those people are a bunch of “nut jobs” and that I have been “deceived” and have gotten away from the “true” faith. He always says, ” God is love…..but”……..
No matter. I’ve been where he is and haveNO, desire to return. I hope it doesn’t take him 59 years to “see the true light” which is the Source of being. My focused intentions are for an “enlightening” for my dear son.
