Information Isn’t Transformation

Somewhere early in the game, around the second century Common Era, what was to develop into the Christian religion began a downward spiral that totally spun out of control in the fourth century. The two major turning points came at the Council of Nicea in 325 and the Council of Constantinople in 381. The esoteric and gnostic traditions of the early church were now on the outside looking in.

When Constantine brought the church in out of the fringes, gave it credibility and standing, and manipulated it with gifts (tax deductions, status, fine robes, and large buildings) the inner workings of the Spirit that Jesus had lived and conveyed gave up the ghost- forced though it were. With the combined paradigms of the Greek and Roman cultures, doctrine and dogma were now the currencies of the realm.

While the battles for whose doctrine and whose dogma would prevail was like a tug of war for a good two hundred years, we’ve not yet given up the mindset of thinking that if we BELIEVE the right things, follow the proper theological precepts, and transform our minds by the renewing of FACTS (as we know them of course) all will be well. In other words have the RIGHT INFORMATION and you’re on your way to TRANSFORMATION.

Bull! And I’m not talking Papal Bull here..

Reading another book is good. Taking another course of study is helpful. Engaging in another counseling or deliverance session might be lead to some freedoms. However, if you are looking for true transformation, then that’ll come only by your accepting the spiritual being that you are, and embracing the innate nature that’s living within, so that you can develop an intimacy with the One who created you.

Western Christians as a whole are arguably the most knowledgable and informed generation of Chritians in history. Is this then as good as it gets? Knowing the Greek language can help. Memorizing Strong Concordance numbers is interesting. But, in the end, if INFORMATION is all you’re looking for: then, that’s all you’ll find. :-(
