Is God Omnipotent Or Not?

There are lots of questions that need to be answered and more that need to be asked when it comes to life. Philosophy breaks down into seven disciplines and ask these seven questions: what is theology, history, epistomology, ethics, metaphysics, art, and politics. You could spend a life time on any one of the seven and there are man and women who have indeed. But, one of the most important questions cocnerns the triune concept of God of which I want to deal with just one of the three “O’s”- omnipotence.

When I say there is no EVIL, it’s a hard saying. :-)

If there’s no evil, what about demons, what about the Devil, Lucifer, the Serpent? If there’s no evil, who in the hell (is there a hell?), or who on God’s green earth do I blame for all the crap that has happened in my life. Surely not MOI (French for me)!

A similiar question might be, how is it that we believe beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and yet evil isn’t? If God is omnipotent, how can there be any power that challenges Him? How do you rationalize that one. Tell me, how’s that work for you Dr. Phil?

If there be evil in this world, and there IS, it’s only because we have empowered such outside the realm of that which is God. Evil has to live “outside the garden” where nakedness is somehow bad. But, the more we live in harmony with the ONE (God), the les and less of evil that we see. Love evaporates hate, it does not oppose it (resist not evil). Light repalces darkness, it does not resist it.

I know, this is way too simple for our egos, and way too complex for our brains. But, if we’re going to continue saying God is omnipotent, maybe we should start acting like it! Whatcha think?

Sound logical? :-)

  • Teacher- perhaps we are the reason we see evil in the world, and not the fact that God has withdrew his favor. When Jesus Christ defeated the devil at Calgary we were saved from the devil. The devil can’t have something that Jesus Christ has claimed. Struggling, tired, and thristy and gotta go to work in one hour but as Proverbs 16:3 and Matthew 6:25-34 states in Jesus Christ’s name I and we shall make it.

  • I agree that WE ARE the ONLY reason as evil is only a “perceptive appearance” in “this world”, which does not exist in the presence of the Spirit. There is but ONE power in the “kingdom”, whcih is WITHIN US- if we’ll but acknowledge that fact.
