How you SEE Jesus is how you see God and when you get right down to it, how you see everything. The church wants you to see a Jesus “as God“: fully human and yet fully divine. I never have been able to figure out how that mental leap worked. He was perfect, sinless, and knew what His purpose was here on earth. And, He went about accomplishing that. He told His followers to “follow me“, but what does that mean in light of the above description and definition of God? Who among us mere “humans” could possibly follow a fully divine being? Or is there another way to look at Jesus, the Christ?
What makes “Christianity” what we call “Christian” is having your ground of being in God as depicted and described by Jesus. Believing in certain “beliefs” is only part of the journey. At some point we have to follow the same WAY that Jesus did (John 14:6) and that’s a lot more than the simple “confess Jesus as your Savior” that the church has made their custom.
Much more!
Since when was Jesus pro-war, pro-Republican, and pro-capitalism? Repeating the phrase “Jesus loves me this I know“, is well and good, a truth, but what comes next? So, try on this answer and see how it fits.
The next step is loving Jesus back!
That means that you love what Jesus loved! Now we’re making this damn thing personal aren’t we? Who was it that Jesus didn’t love? I mean He even loved His enemies. Who’s ready to do that? Wanna get real with WWJD?
Love your enemies!
Let’s get specific. Love homosexuals, lesbians, transvestites, teenagers with purple hair and pierced everything, Muslims, Hindus, Mormons, and yes your spouse who just hacked you off today! And maybe even love me for espousing observations and opinions of things that you totally disagree with and think are cult-ish or new age.
For me, Jesus just entered life like everyone of us! Now we have a valid comparison and if so when He said “follow me”, we CAN- sahould we chose to!
But He lived life like God, the Father, wanted Him to. He learned obedience by the things He suffered. He struggled with His humanity like you and I do, and yet He lived it gloriously and conquered it, His ego, and death itself. And since He did it, you and I can too!
He is the way! But it’s not the religious way!
It’s an “in the trenches” due to you ego, love God, and all that God loves which is all He created, which is EVERYONE!
Jesus is the KEY alright and how you see Him makes all the difference in the world. Seeing Him rightly is living the Kingdom life. We ALL DIE, but very few really LIVE. Me? I’m giving Jesus and LIFE all it can handle- until I do die and when they pray over this lifeless shell that was once called Ernie, may they say. He died three days ago, be HE LIVED LIFE FULLY when he was dealing with his humanity, !
Where are you in all that? Living or still in religious bondage?
