Killing Me Softly?

I used to like to quote that verse that says I must decrease that He can increase. John 3:30 was so easy to quote because it was all about John and not me. It was a verse to quote that made you look good, which was really nothing more than an attempt at false humility. Most people saw through it, particularly the world!

God wasn’t really killing ME, the true Spirit man. God was desiring me to kill the FALSE self though, the EGO. God is slowly allowing me to die to that false self- if I want to ! I have really been procrastianting, killing some time, and questioning if I want to do this deal!

Here’s a serious question!

Is it really possible to be like Jesus? I mean after all, He was God. God’s only begotten Son is close enough. Can we actually take on the character of Jesus? How far can we go in making a reality out of Galations 5:1. How much of God can we really take on?

Did Paul know what he was talking about when he penned Romans 13:14? How does one PUT ON Jesus? We the ordinary people? How attainable is the journey to being “like Jesus“?

Can you say “Jesus take the wheel” when your bumper sticker on your car says “Jesus is my co-pilot?” Jesus in 2006? Jesus, the rest of the day after you’ve read this psot?
