I’ve always been an And-Also kind of a guy; however, when it comes to seeing God-Spirit-Consciousness as both personal and impersonal, I’m still struggling, but doing better. I can’t ever imagine NOT seeing God as Abba Father, but then again, I don’t have to give it up do I? But, I DO have to see God as impersonal as well and here’s why that’s critical.
God is TRUE and ABSOLUTE. He IS the I AM and that’s that! In that sense it’s akin yo mathematics. Math doesn’t punish you. Two plus two will always be four. Always. If you think 2+2=5 you are in for financial and other troubles in your life. Your decision to say that 2+2=5 or whatever number other than 4, is your fault. Math does NOT PUNISH you. Mathematics won’t balance your check book for you (can you read between the lines here?). You do it to yourself.
God is SPIRIT!
God is not a man, nor any gender. You can call Him a Father (as I do), but you need to watch out for the subtle trap door that you can easily fall into. The door has no labels, but it psychologically and functionally manifests as reward- punishment. Do good and parent (daddy of course) will reward you. Do bad and parent (you know the drill) will punish you. Out of such falsity comes the FEAR paradigm!
If you have so personalized the impersonal God that you’re operating in fear that God might PUNISH you, you’re missing the point. While Jesus called the impersonal God, abba Father, and while I call God, Father as well, Jesus didn’t create a “parental paradigm” that you should live in fear of because here is no such thing. The sooner you can trash that mindset, the freer and happier you will be.
How about living the GOOD NEWS starting NOW?
