Lost Faith In God?

When I was a child!

I like the story that Bart Ehrman tells when he runs across an atheist who says, I don’t believe in God”. To which he replies, I don’t believe in that God that you’re thinking about either. Sophy Burnham says something similar when she wrote, “I didn’t know that it was entirely appropriate to leave behind my childhood images of God.”

The problem is the manner in which too many religious leaders operate to keep us “as a child”, when it comes to God.

When we see how life biologically grows and changes, why do we think that there should no maturation spiritually?

I’ve definitely lost faith in God: the God of my childhood days, the God of my mid-life, and even the God of just a few years ago. The good news is that the God in whom my faith has grown is so much greater than that God of my youth, so much greater than the God of the Old Testament, and the God that the apostle Paul created from his interpretations of Jesus.

Have you lost faith in God: ever?

And then did you find a GREATER faith?
