As is the practice and custom now, this weekend post is a follow up and review of the Beyond Theism Ministry that happens every Friday night after the “normal” service ends. For those that could not stay, could only attend part, or who want a recap- this be it! And thanks to those that could stay, and do stay, because without YOU, it wouldn’t work very well.
The theme and direction for March 23 was wrapped around the phrase, “Loving the ONE that we ARE“.
The ego draws back from such a statement. Ego wants to be unique, the one and only not needing help, ascending and dominating. It’s not worked and never will, for very long.
We, and particularly fundamentalists, have separated ourselves away from “others“, which is defined as anyone who doesn’t agree or think like us (can you say 90% of the world?). Others would not only be other denominations that disagree with us, but Catholics, Buddhists, Hindus, etc.
It wasn’t too long ago that I was chastised for using quotes from Buddha. That would be anathema. Quoting Buddha would be abandoning Christ somehow, or thinking that somehow quoting anyone but Jesus would pervert the Charismatic, mighty warrior minds.
God help us!
Jesus did NOT teach separation!
Christianity’s “Theism“, putting God on a cloud or behind a star somewhere out there, and us here, has created separation.
Not embracing the “One Power” that God is, and eating from the tree of two powers (good and evil) has created separation.
God and Jesus are ONE. We, you and I, are ONE in Him and therefore we, you and I, are ONE (positionally and ultimately) though we are far from realizing or allowing that to manifest itself in our experiential world.
As Rod Stewart sang, (Have I Told You Lately That I Love You) we need to fall in love with the ONE! Click on the song and read those words! And then tell God how much you love Him. Show Him! And show everyone you meet that you love them. How?
You might take the Buddhist monk (and many other cultures) approach of putting your palms together and bowing, which is called Namaste, which means, “The divine in me honors the divine in you“. Can you imagine how much better of a world this would be IF we could do that to everyone we meet: starting with our spouse! Or neighbor, if you’re not married.
There’s lots to yet BE isn’t there?
I loved what you said “Jesus did NOT teach separation!” If we practice that our world would be different
Hard to comprehend and even harder yet to DO.
More proof of the synchronicity of the Holy Spirit for me. Even though I couldn’t make it to church on Friday night, I found myself saying that day that yes, I am a Christian but this is not about being a Christian. I’m not willing to insult millions who don’t seek God as I do. This is just about being a Human Being. Nice to know I’m either on the beam or if I’m off the track, I’m traveling close to some good people.
And one of the stories I told was about a meeting the night before when the discussion was over Catholic-Christian. Why?
I spent this morning watching a portion of Rohr on the Saturday when he came to LRC. It is amzing how the more I love God The more I love me. I took a real big leap and over breakast began to share with my son’s about “One Power” and “Duality”. Much to my surprise they were quite ready to recieve and had great feedback. The concept of Oneness with God, was recieved and the possibility that the devil is really our ego working in opposition to God, Jessie said he had been thinking about that already. I am so excited about being able to leave an inheritance of enlightenment to these guys. The afternoon ended with our sitting on the living room floor doing a breathing excersize to “Be still and Know that I am God” that they might began to learn how to Contemplate and practice being in the “NOW” which is where the presence of God is. What a great day, what a great God, what a great life. I would be lieing if I denied it is scary, but it is OK to take baby steps into the deep if you can’t just jump. Either way you still reach the destination. God and I are one. “WOW” How can I say I love God and not love… “It is our destiny to be as God is”
And then there’s that song, ‘We’ve Only Just Begun”
“O God, my mind is fascinated with Thy lotus feet as the bumble-bee with the flower; night and day I thirst for them.â€
“God is one, but he has innumerable forms. He is the creator of all and He himself takes the human form.â€
These are quotes from Guru Nanak, the founder of the Sikh religion. His message was one of unity and love of God. After I read his writings and the writings of other Sikhs I finally understood that God is good because he reveals himself to all people regardless of their culture or religion. There is only one God…
