Unfortunately much of religion was established by a savant or an individual with a high level of consciousness and then slowly degraded by followers who had a personal agenda or need for power to control others. There isn’t any religion free of such.
Look at what so-called Christians have done to the Bible!
I’ve always said that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the Bible: it’s the people who interpret the Bible (to their way of thinking) that are screwed up. I mean, which translation of the Bible is the WORD of God? Which Bible with however many books is the real deal? Which denomination has it right?
Come on, let’s get real.
As Father Richard Rohr has said, “The sacred texts of the Bible are filled with absolute breakthroughs, epiphanies, and manifestations of the highest level of encounter, conversion, transformation, and Spirit. The Bible also contains texts which are punitive, petty, tribal, and idiotic. A person can prove anything he or she wants from a single line of the Bible.”
Did he say IDIOTIC?
Yes, he did!
If I embrace any principle it is that we have ALL been created in the image of God. We are potentially awesome co-creators and there’s a spirit within each of us that’s eternal regardless of how many gays you bash, how many adulterous relationships you have, or how many packs of cigarettes you have smoked. All of that is merely a demonstration of your lower level consciousness.
The good news is that when we leave this bio-chemical body behind, we move into a higher level of consciousness regardless. That holds true if you believe in a return visit to planet earth or a reincarnation into another galaxy.
Who really knows? Oh, I know, your ego does!
