There’s no BIG TENT invitation for the Christian Western Church. All are invited who want to sign a disclaimer at the tent door that says you will follow n other doctrine other than that which is confessed within. And the divinity schools within America have by and large been able to maintain the status quo.
As one dean of divinity doings said, “Mysticism begins with MIST and end with SCHISM! Cute, but hardly truthful.
The Patriarchal paradigm for Western religion simply does not have a place or space for the mystical make up that contains more feminine energy than they’re ready for. Nor are the MALE heads of divinity doings ready for a more right brain usage, emotional nuturing, and creation-oriented approach to Christianity.
It’s ORTHODOXY as a priority, and purity without exception. ORTHOPRAXY must take a seat and wait.
How strange when Jesus was the consummate MYSTIC. How crazy that the early church wanted to do away with all things mystical though Paul was not a promoter of the historical Jesus but an encourager for us to enter into and embrace the COSMIC CHRIST. Love somehow got lost in the shuffle or as Carol Lynn Fitzpatrick wrote, “Love is who we are, joy is where we are heading. We are to bring deeper levels of understanding and compassion to ALL beings, everywhere.”
The messages are there in the Hebraic texts of Songs of Songs, Proverbs, Psalms, Sirach, Ecclesiastes, and so on. Instead, the Western church went on an egoic personal salvation crusade- things that the EGO likes to embrace of course.
As Alice Miller wrote, ‘We are so OUT OF TOUCH with who we ARE.” Or as Matthew Fox wrote, “A civilization that denies the MYSTIC is no civilization at all It offers no hope and no adventure, no challenge worthy of sacrifice, no festivity, and no living ritual for its people.”
But, WE who BE have not yet died, nor been murdered.
