What did we do before we had weekends FREE? I know what I did, and I’m forgetting it! It seems like the weekends are full of events that I wonder how I missed all this stuff or is it that this is just the season to move to Friday night services. Whatever it is, this last weekend as we transition from March to April is a good example of why I like where LRC is now.
Saturday is for our NEW friend. Amazingly, a man I was just introduced to three weeks ago, I will not get to spend an afternoon and evening with in Boerne, Texas. Lyn and I drive to the Hill Country for the second time in three weekends. We will hook up with new friend, Walter Starcke and tour his 360 acre ranch just North of Boerne.
I’ve completed reading two of his books and am in the middle of three others. He’s a great writer as well as being “mystic of the Century”. Seriously!
We’ll then go into town to have dinner Saturday evening at a quaint restaurant that he’s recommended. Whatever the food and wine is like, the conversation will be A+ I am sure. Lyn and I will stay in a B&B for Saturday night before heading off to meet with some of our old friends.
We’ll catch message # 5 that Rick Godwin does on the weekend: two Saturday night messages and three on Sunday. We’ll have lunch and then load up on a private jet to head to Harlingen to meet Ron Corzine. It’s the 25th anniversary of Ron and Ann’s church in the Valley. Another old friend of 20+ years.
An amazing thing is that when they started their church back in 1982, they did so with 8 COUPLES. All 8 are still members of the church in Harlingen. How’s that for building relationships? After a service that Rick will preach, we’ll have dinner, hop on the plane and be back in San Antonio before ten at night. There’s nothing like a good night’s rest!
Monday morning, with God’s grace, Lyn and I will drive back to Houston where we have dozens of other new & old friends who have locked arms to do something for the Lord in this City. Come September 6th, Rick and Ron will be in Houston to help us celebrate LRC’s 20th anniversary- and the NEW BUILDING. I have had many blessings in my 63 years, but good friends that have walked with me for decades (like Rick and Ron) are at the top of the list.
While I cherish the beginngings of new friendships like Walter and others, I have a special place in my heart for those that have been instrumental in building a local assembly of awesome people in Houston.
LET’S DO IT!

Ernie- I know that feeling this week, I have all meals paid a test and a $2,000 cash payment after each two pay periods, is God not amazing? No lie, and no joke.
Well rock on then man!
