And what’s that mean? Governor General of Canada, Lord Tweedsmuir Buchan loved to say often that an ATHEIST is a person who has “no invisible means of support”. I like it. It’s cute; however, it’s a concept that can also be said by many mainline Christians as well.
There are so many Christians today who seem ungrateful!
We are children of light- the Light. When we open our spiritual eyes to truly SEE, it’s obvious that we are BLESSED beyond measure; however, the EGO is always there to play the tape of what it is you don’t have. The ego always wants us to compare to those who have MORE and not those who have much LESS.
I am reminded of those four lines in an old-time evangelical hymn:
Count your blessings, name them one by one.
Count your blessings, see what God has done.
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.
I am NOT surprised. Tom Harpur puts it this way, “Nothing does more for one’s overall mental, spiritual, and physical health than the careful cultivation of a THANKFUL heart.” Even science confirms that just simply being positive-thankful is far more healthy than being negative-needy. When you have positive thoughts and emotions, you are bringing together the lower three and upper three chakras into the FEELING realm of the mid or fourth chakra.
I have an invisible means of support!
In other words, when you have positive thoughts, when you are grateful, and when you count your blessings, you are generating higher vibrations and brining about more of the spiritual-higher self. How the ego hates that. But when we do so we are calling upon that “invisible means of support” called God-Consciousness-Energy-Field.
Who’s paying your bills, blessing your life?
For some time now (as my website proclaims)I have been praying prayers of thanksgiving ONLY each morning as I drive to work. Thankfulness leaves me in a better frame of mind (the mind beyond OUR mind). It has accomplished for me what years and years and years of begging, pleading, beseeching never did. Thank God, our Source for what is already done or is “in the process” of manifesting itself. Focused intention of one mind with Source, co-creates our reality. Thankfulness yields a contented spirit. Thanks for reminding us today.
I am reminded of the passage from the Gospel of Thomas — “That which you have will save you, if you draw it forth from yourself”.
jbf- That’s what I’m SAYIN! And me thinks that’s what Jesus was SAYIN as well – “The kingdom of God is WITHIN you” (Luke 17:21). Look within not without to some EXTERNAL event (physical baptism) or document (Bible): however, use both as they should be used.
Gratitude and appreciation are always a better attitude. This type of person is just pleasant to be around. “The Law of Attraction”, some call it the “Law of Reflection” is simply that we attract that which we reflect. So look in the mirror and you will get a smile if you are smiling. Expect a blessed life of of fulfilling moments and strength to overcome the challenges and this is what we recieve.
I would not agree more. We’ve reside as well as labored inside the Houston area for numerous yrs, and this is really precisely the way I feel. Cheers!
