Once I Was Blind- Part # 2

This is a follow up from LRC Houston in case you got here first. It might be easier to go back and CLICK HERE FIRST! Otherwise you might wonder what in the heck does homosexuality have to do with eyesight? Well, let me explain.

This Friday I will do as much as the Holy Spirit will allow me to get us to see how our BELIEF SYSTEMS do damage to all of us. Jesus didn’t come to start a new religion, but to inform us that the “Kingdom of God had come” and NOW IS! Accepting that and then knowing what that means are entirely two different stories.

I was taught that homosexuals were going to HELL!

I was also taught that hell was an eternal trillion, billion year torture chamber. I no longer believe that either. But, I digress.

Unlike telling you about the journey I had of accepting Catholicism, I’m just going to go back a couple of days and get to the point. You’re probably tired of reading at this point anyway, and their is work to do!

I broke bread (otherwise know as eating a meal) with a great guy. I like him so much that I want to follow up with a lunch soon, as our schedules allow. He lives in Houston, but he travels a lot: all over the United States. I’m glad God didn’t call me to be a traveling minister, or even one that travels a lot like Rick Godwin.

I like being with my wife, friends, and home (and dogs).

This successful, intelligent, mild mannered, and God loving man is a homosexual pastor.

I know, I know. “How can that BE“?

It doesn’t fit into my “belief system“, but then there’s been a lot of things that I’ve done over my life that didn’t either. I bet if you sat down with him and talked about God, he’d blow you away by his knowledge, loving spirit, and concern for your life. But, in order to do that you’d have to trash the belief that homosexuals are modern-day lepers.

God’s called us to LOVE, not JUDGE! The Holy Spirit has that job description.

Yes, there are some things that are harder to do than others, so how about if we begin on a smaller scale and then work up to some of the biggies? Come Friday night and if you have time, plan on staying for the in-depth, get-real after service and maybe I can help you take some of the blinders off; remove some of the scales, and in so doing I’ll discover more that I (as in me) need to shed!

I’m still a few fries short of a Happy Meal!

The ego is nothing but a snake in our psyche and like the natural reptiles, we need to shed some of our beliefs (skins) at least a couple of times a year.

You game? :-)
