Peregrini et Viatores

That’s what we are! The old phrase is “pilgrims and wayfarers“. But, we aren’t alone on the journey even if we’ve chosen such. There is no such thing as a pure or absolute “loner“. A person couldn’t make it through the day without the paraclete- not to mention all those who help us get through the day whether we acknowledge them or not!

God has set eternity in our hearts!

We may reject God in this third dimensional world, but we’ll run to Him in the next one. We are made to rest in Him. Our souls will never find peace or rest outside of an affirmation of who the Creator is. Even those who have accepted the fact that there is an Almighty God may nevertheless reject His love and affection.

As with Abraham, we are all seeking that city (a metaphorical place to live) which has foundations that are strong and whose maker and builder is God. Surely we all take detours- it’s our humanity. Some make a very long trip of the detour, but all roads eventually lead back home: even if we don’t think we have one.

As St. Augustine put it, “As wayfaring men are wont to sing, so sing and keep on marching. If you are going forward you are marching. And to go on is good, to go on in the faith, to go on in right living.” How’s that song in your heart? Can others hear it?

Don’t make the journey alone!
