P&P Part #2

You can flip back to Tuesday to understand this continuation.

Do you think a Baptist would give a fair hearing to a Pentecostal: maybe even go to one of their meetings? NO WAY JOSE! Well, I can’t speak for the Baptist universe, but when I “was one“, there was no way! Oh yes, and do you think a Pentecostal would give fair hearing to a Baptist doctrine? I think there’s a great deal of doubt there as well, though who knows? I wasn’t one of them. There is something about those who SAY they are Christians that make them some of them, if not the most, the most INTOLERANT people on the planet. Where did that come from? It’s certainly not found by reading just the RED! Maybe Paul?

Who Wants Cheaper Insurance?

To change the beliefs of one who has been indoctrinated in any religion or denomination is a modern-day miracle! How do I know that? I know the battles that I have had to say goodbye to many doctrines that “I” had been taught.

I consider myself to be open to new ideas, flexible, and open to change. Until! Until you mess with long held emotional ideas. Some of the major core beliefs were easy to give up because they made no sense to start with. I just went along because to NOT do so is so painful.

Did I mention many Christians are very intolerant.

Some downright nasty and hateful! :-(

HELL was an easy one to say adios to. What loving God would condemn 90% of His creation, that He knew ahead of time would be headed to hell for eternal torment and agony.

Divine judgment? Sure! Hell? Eternal hell….HELL NO!

It’s especially shameful when we in the ministry try and tell those in the field of science what is true and what’s not. Martin Luther called Copernicus and “upstart astrologer” for saying the earth wasn’t still while the sun circled around us. I wonder what he thinks now? :-)

Calvin in all religious prejudice and arrogance said of Copernicus, “Who will venture to place the authority of Copernicus above that of the Holy Spirit. Do not the Scriptures say that Joshua commanded the sun and not the earth to stand still?”

Now who would go against that religious dictum?

There is a grave arrogance within what’s called the church that those outside it can surely smell. Until we climb down off of our pride and prejudice perches, and start washing their feet, the church isn’t going to accomplish the will of God. Far from it.

Enough of the ugly stuff.

God is love! May we BE!
