I loved the 1996 movie by Mel Gibson entitled Ransom, but I’m talking about a far greater in scope ransom. A ranson is the practice of holding a prisoner to extort money or property to secure their release, or it can refer to the sum of money involved. But I’m talking about the price that Jesus paid on the cross for ALL mankind!
Jesus paid the ULTIMATE price for our sins!
He did’nt pay a ransom for the seven deadly sins, nor for a couple hundred sins, and neither did He pray a ransom for just a few select individuals. Jesus paid the FULL PRICE for EVERYONE! And there’s nothing that I can do that will erase the deal.
Ledt me clue you in on something. God knew about the atonement way before you and I arrived on this planet, and long before Jesus Himself showed up. Our sins had to be dealt with- it’s just a hang-up that a righteous God has. What a picky God! So, Jesus purchased ALL men and women with His death on the cross.
When Jesus said it was finished, He meant it was FINISHED!
Then we have the witness from God in Col. 1 “It pleased the Father to reconcile to Himself ALL (ALL is not some) things on earth and in heaven, having made PEACE through the BLOOD of His cross.” What’s not to get here? He paid the price, the ransom has been fulfilled, and it IS finsihed!
