Read My Lips- Not My Body!

Say What?

Yeah, yeah you know how the saying goes, “Do as I SAY and not as I DO”.  It’s just part of our American, Christian, human kind way of life.  Ecclesiastes 1:9  reads  (NIV), “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun”. How many times have you used that verse- for a wide variety of reasons. But, then when it came to talking about your religious BIAS, it doesn’t apply.

Makes sense to me. NOT!

Theologian George C. Fisher writes, “Christianity  introduced NO NEW element in the constitution of the soul”. He’s just one of hundreds of theologians who have said that although most Sunday go-to-meeting attendees have probably never heard that preached, much less taught. St. Augustine  chimmed in with the same words 1,600 years ago.

God didn’t just awaken 2,000 years ago with a NEW MESSAGE!

Who would believe that after thousands, really millions of years of “homo whatever” (Ergaster, Habilis, Erectus, Sapien, etc.), God would suddenly awaken to the NEED for humanity to be saved and on to the scene comes a carpenter from Nazareth. I’m not trying to be disrespectful, but rather, to raise the stinging question about a three year ministry saving my life 2,000 years later?

Do I try to follow Jesus, emulate his life, and cherish his teachings? HELL (metaphorically speaking of course) YES!

What I hope is that my LIFE is one of LOVE, forgiveness, mercy, and grace to not just those whom I love, but to those whom have tried, and still try to harm me (thankfully it’s primarily with words of hate). The rubber meets the road when I DO and not SAY, or at least when I DO what I SAY! Hey, now there’s a novel and fundamental place to start life. Back up your WORDS with ACTION.

It’s not just me SAYING I LOVE you, it’s me demonstrating that! How cool would that be if I (and we) could do that more often? Why not give it a rumble?

  • Love comes across to me from you….always has.

  • I am thinking that as many more of us actually love (verb form) rather than speak about love we will see some great contagions of change!

Hey, perhaps I start with myself, my family, and even those strangers I come across (ones that I can receive no known benefit from as I DEMONSTRATE love to them, for them, in front of them).

I am convinced in my life that I can be too analytical, critical, and emotional when all I really need to do is simply BE & DO.
