Recovering Religionaholics?

Since AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) has played such an important role in the lives of so many people, maybe I should start up a similar program for those that have fallen victim to churchianity. How’s RR (Recovering Religionaholics)sound to you. For so many years I have warned people about falling into the snares of Hosea 4:6 and or Isaiah 5:13, and guess what! I discovered I had fallen on my own sword; however, it was not a fatal wound, and I live on experience life anew and share it with whomsoever will.

Infinite punishment for finite transgressions?

Come on church! A God who tells US to forgive seventy times seven (not a literal number, 490, but infinite forgiveness), can’t find forgiveness in Himself for us? Do you honestly believe that? If so, let me tell you about this incredible investment and diet plan that I have that can help you lose 10 pounds a day!

And since I was predestined before the foundation of the world, what’s fair about that? I was created by this anthropomorphic being (that I have manufactured in my mind), who knew in advance, since He (or is He a He?) is omniscient, that I’d burn in hell forever, and ever, and ever. And so forth!

Who wants to follow a being like that? Seriously! :-(

The truth will set you free, but much of the church isn’t speaking the truth , but manufactured intellectualization (if that’s the right word) of what those leaders think church ought to be. Jesus didn’t teach theology or a “plan of salvation“.

Better yet!

Let me leave you with the words of Emmet Fox who said it ever so eloquently and concisely, “Jesus explained the nature of God, our nature, and told us the meaning of life and death; showed us why we make mistakes; why we yield to temptation; why we become sick, and impoverished, and old; and most important of all, He tells us how we can overcome all these evils.”

I’m on the road to recovery- from religion.

Wanna visit with the doctor? If so, come Friday night at 7:00 and you can hang around til 8:30 or midnight because this is the title and direction for my message at our regular Friday night get-together. :-)
