You’d think that those people who call themselves Christians would be following (as in doing and being) the lifestyle of Jesus. Well, maybe not going to the cross, but bearing some of the hardships of that old rugged cross; however, it seems that too often Christians simply aren’t being…..”Christos people“.
Jesus said some very difficult things, and lived through some even more harsh circumstances.
As an example, it’s one thing to discipline a person for violent acts and quite another to detach and separate oneself from other just because of what they BELIEVE! Church history though is full of example after example of the church, the entity that says Jesus is their model, kicking people out (can you say ex-communication?) because of their BS (belief systems)!
Matthew Fox came to the conclusion after much study and “hearings” from the Spirit within him that the concept of ORIGINAL SIN simply wasn’t God-like. Instead, Fox saw mankind as being “created in the image of God” (Isn’t that in Genesis 1?) and therefore he came to BELIEVE in a concept he called ORIGINAL BLESSING.
For SHAME!
And for such a BELIEF, the Catholic Church removed his credentials and Fox himself. This isn’t unusual. Some of the greatest men (Hans Kung would be another example) have been BASHED & BANISHED as a result not of violent or lascivious BEHAVIOR, but contrary BELIEFS (BS).
It’s not just the Catholic Church, but Protestants as well. I’m reminded of the great book, Honest To God by John A. T. Robinson. The beliefs that Robinson advocated got his career as an Anglican Bishop aborted and he was relegated to a minor teaching role in a small community where his voice would not be heard by many.
BS Bashing simply isn’t something that I see those who call themselves “Christian” should be involved in, nor practicing. When will we embrace orthopraxy as a higher calling than so-called orthodoxy? When!
Ernie what a blessing to start the morning read about how man was really born under blesssing and not sin.

I just wrote a blog post on this subject! Synchronicity at work! I’ll wait a few days to post it so yours can sink in.
