Saved But Not Discipled?

What do you think happens when 140,000 give their life to Jesus and then a year later, none claim Him as their svaior and there isn’t a church in the country? I wonder if that story is true? I’ve heard of the nation where it was to have happened (in Africa). But then, when Billy Graham believes the majority of the people that make a public confession of faith at his evangelism happenings, it could probably happen. Of course there’s always this question. What is salvation anyway? Is it just repeating a few words before a minister, pastor, or church official? Unfortunately that’s what it’s become in most churches in America.

Saved? How so? Tell me what that means.

I’ve come to a different understanding of the salvistic concept; you know, the one taught in the Bible! Matthew 28:19-20 tells us to make disciples of people first! Then get them baptized. But in America we like to catch fish but no one wants to clean them!

Being with people, loving them, caring for them (especially when they don’t espouse your religious beliefs) is where real evangelism begins. And once you catch one, which can happen in a nano-second, the cleaning can take decades- literally (no metaphor here). :-)
I’m currently taking thirty nine months to work with a group of men and who knows if that’s enough time? For me salvation isn’t a one time event, but a process: a very long process. It’s called transformation. It’s a dying to your ego (the false self) and accepting the true self of Jesus that lies within us. Saved but not discipled is more like a metaphor though. Can you say being “still born“?

There is an “order” of spirit disciples being birthed across the land. This I believe!
