I am still taken aback when I hear someone say, “I just can’t wait to get to heaven and see Jay-Zus“. Hey, I can wait as long as God wants to keep me here. I love it here. Here is a big, big challenge. And much like in the movie, The Matrix, “I like the taste of steak“. I don’t have a clue as to whether or not we’ll eat steak or whatever. What I do know NOW though is that there’s work to be done and I’ve been called to help out in the nasty-now-and-now!
Not too long ago, before the scandal broke in Colorado, Ted Haggard said, “Heaven is our home“.
Catholic Cardinal McCarrick said, “We are made for heaven“.
“The next life is the REAL life”, said Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf.
I am sure that they also enjoy the current life- hopefully. But, why is there so much emphasis on later, tomorrow when NOW is really ALL that there is. A good answer to my, or at least “an” answer to my question would be that, there’s NO responsibility or accountability about what one says about the future. But, living NOW puts me under the microscope.
If there was more NOW living, NOW accountability, and NOW love, by George I think we can make some positive changes for the better of humankind. Well, I’ve gotta go. NOW is calling me. Or is that Starbucks coffee beans that I’m smelling?
