You’re not preaching, they question?
There’s something about the second half of life that we should be doing differently than the first half. Many somethings! I not only take off on holiday weekend Sundays, I also try my best to do NOTHING! If I were to preach on those holiday weekend, there’d be none for me. So, a game of hearts with family and a bad movie, is all I’ve been able to fit into the first twenty four hours of the seventy-two holiday weekend.
To that I managed 9+ hours of sleep, a couple hours of meditation, 2-3 hours of reading, and two hours surfing the net and writing my two daily commentaries. About as close as I could get to work would be watering all my plants, citurs and fruit trees.
I was told early in life (by few I admit) that I needed to surrender myself to Christ: surrender the false self to the real self. Looking back, I’ve discovered two important points no one told me. First, you have to build and develop the ego in order to know who it is and why you should kill the rascal. Strange concept isn’t it?
Secondly, to make surrender a goal, something we by our own effort accomplish is really nothing more than the false self feeding itself in a different way. You can’t decide to surrender, really; it’s just something that comes in fits and spurts along the journey as you allow the Holy Spirit to do His work in you.
So, back to doing nothing, and therein finding everything.
Be blessed and safe this weekend, and do nothing some of the time.
