What the heck does that mean? How easy this phrase rolls of the tongues of people that are called Christians. What is salvation anyway? Is it as easy as most churches in America say it is? Magic salvation- simply say Jesus is your savior and you are IN! Salvation and baptism, baptism and salvation; a one two punch and you’ve done the deal. Or so many say.
I am afraid that the plan of salvation is much different than that which is being peddled in many American churches. Are we Christians by simply believing that Jesus died for our sins? Is that all there is? Tell me that’s all there is. It sounds so good and so easy. Can I enjoy unmerited grace, unlimited forgiveness by a choice I make of reciting few words of faith in Jesus and that’s it? Or is it as A.W. Tozer has said, “Salvation apart from obedience is unknown among the sacred Scriptures”.
Now we’re in to works, right?
No, we’re more in to something that’s been called “vampire Christianity“. You know. We want a little of the blood of Jesus and that’s all; nothing more please. Listen, the propensity for man (this includes you too ladies) is to SIN! It’s the breakfast of champions. As Dallas Willard said, “No one wants to be a sinner. We all want to be good, but we are prepared, ready, to do evil- should the circumstances require it. And of course they regularly require it.”
I hope I’m not bursting your salvistic bubble, but wouldn’t it follow that if you’re following Jesus, that there would be great fruit as a result? So why aren’t we showing forth more of it, more power? Jesus is looking for a people He can trust so that He can poor out His Spirit and gifts on them.
Let’s BE that people! ![]()

Your article made me think of Rom. 5:20…”God’s law was given so that all people could see how SINFUL they were, but as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful kindness became more abundant.” (NLT).
Is that a loving Father God or what? I did notice it did not say He “loves” us more (goodnes, He IS love) but His KINDNESS to us came in more abundance, what a loving Father, wouldn’t you say?
We have NO CLUE as to how much God loves. It’s staggering and humbling to say the least.
