2012: Axial Age II
German philosopher Karl Jaspers coined the term, "Axial Age", to describe the period from 800-200 BCE, during which time a worldwide expansion of consciousness took place, forever changing religion, philosophy, mathematics, art and the way we see the world today. Is the human race undergoing such a spiritual metamorphosis once again? Are we currently experiencing another Axial Age? Explore the evidence in this simple e-book and then join the conversation!

The Volcano Erupts!
I’ve been a so-called Christian for 46 years!
I’ve been the founder and pastor of LRC for nearly 20 years!
I’ve been on a spiritual quest (for transformation) for 3 years!
The lava dome of the spirit has been building- shoving more “hot stuff” (religious crap) to the surface and out of the belly of the volcano of life. Many have run from the rumblings. It’s a dangerous thing to be in the hands of the God as the writer of Hebrews tells us in chapter 11. But there is no more holding back; whatever must come forth will. When the baby is ready it will come forth- nature or the creative forces of this universe are in control. Today LRC moves from what has been home for 15+ years. It’s been our 4th home location in nearly 20 years and by far the longest and most exciting location. But, what’s ahead is beyond my imagination, but imagine I do!
We announce our new name tonight that will coincide with our new home, our new nature, and the new wine that has been fermenting for some time now. The tannins are rich and complex and the wine is ready to drink!
The initials remain the same- LRC!
Liberty Revival Church was what we once were- for twenty years. We were a church (people, not a building) coming out of Egypt (denominationalism), and wandering around in the desert, if but for half the time Moses did (40 years). As we’ve already announced, the “C” no longer stands for church, but COMMUNITY. Does that mean that we’re no longer a “church“?
Nope!
We are a church (people) but we’re more than a church. Really, when you get down to it, we never were a “normal church” probably because I was never a “normal pastor“. And maybe because that’s not what God wanted (Isaiah chapter 1). I’ll review more of all this July 6th at our new home and at the first services there. There will be three services as dictated by our temporary facilities (6-7, 7-8, and 8-9). And then for those that want to engage in conversations that matter, we go from 9 til midnight.
Brian Swimme put it this way, “What’s necessary is for us to understand that, really, at the root of things is community. At the deepest level, that’s the center of things. We come out of community. So how then can we organize our economics so that it’s based on community, not accumulation? And how can we organize our religion to teach us about community?”
Ah, now that is the challenge and the purpose of the first two letters L&R which will be revealed tonight at 7pm. And then we’ll spend the rest of our life BEING….a church in community!
