The Winds Of Change

The church may lag behind most other institutions in keeping up with the times, and exponential changes that we’re seeing; however, she will have to inevitably change. The Spirit of God will keep pulling and tugging on our individual spirits, and us collectively (church), until we get there. It is just a part of the nature of the church to be conservative. With the tremendous amount of information and discoveries that keep coming (including archaeological finds) at us, no one can “hold the fort”.

Who Wants Cheaper Insurance?

Too many times I have heard the excuse that God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. There’s no doubt that I believe that. There’s also no doubt that I believe our estimation of who God is, our current information is no where close to being complete.

I am personally discovering new facts and facets to who God is. Sometimes daily!

We also attribute to God the character trait that He is INFINITE! That has to tell us something pretty astounding. We can double our information and knowledge of God and still know little about God. However, there is this part of human nature that wants to put God in a box, tie a ribbon around it, and stamp the name of a denomination on it: it’s then that we quit growing.

The worst part of learning additional things about God is when we find that something NEW is contrary or refutes what we once thought. Why? Why does that bother us? The answer is quite simple.

Ego! :-(
Once we program something into our minds, allow it to settle into our subconsciousness, we then “become that“. We own it. Our identity is tied up in that. But, when we are led by the Spirit, things are new and fresh everyday.

Can you feel the wind blowing?
