Unfortunately Christianity, or at least those who have been the molders of Christian belief systems, has become a highly dualistic religion. Dualism is not what Jesus taught, but then there are a lot of things that Christians profess and believe that Jesus didn’t discuss or embrace. And then there are the things he did teach that we ignore.
If there was anything BIG with the “mind of Christ” it was NON VIOLENCE!
So, what’s up with all the wars, a history full of violence, killing, and plundering: in the name of God of course. What’s up with that anyway? What is there about “thou shall not kill” that we don’t understand? What is there about even “thinking of killing” that we’re not able to visualize and thus practice?
Have you ever pondered such?
By and large the Christianity that is taught in most main line denominations these days is an US vs. THEM preaching. We are the GOOD guys and those who don’t believe as we do, well, they are the BAD guys. THEY go to hell. WE go to heaven. Confess Jesus as your Lord and Savior or you will no longer be one of US, but one of THEM!
Why is this arrogance so hard to see?
The US vs THEM is a poisonous diet! We need to more than PREACH that there is but ONE GOD, we need to act and practice such as well. Because we have given NAMES to God doesn’t mean that other people in different parts of the world have it wrong (that there is ONE God) just because they give the one and only Creator a different name than we do.
We are all ONE! We have ALL been created in the image of God! We are ALL LIGHT though of a different shade of light. There is but ONE Consciousness, one torsion field, and one Spirit. I am far more than my neighbor’s keeper. In one sense I AM my neighbor. I AM a ray of light of “the light”, and I am a drop of water in “the ocean” and therein really indistinguishable from the ocean.
We simply all ARE and we need to begin to just BE!
Wow, so good! I love and I am challenged by the statement “I am far more than my neighbor’s keeper, but I AM my neighbor.” Trying to wrap your brain around that statement really makes it more natural to truly care for and love every person you come across, looking for their needs, wondering if they have any hurts, finding ways to show them love and God-driven connectedness. That Oneness is already there, we just have to find it and open our hearts to that reality. Feel it, know it, live it.
