Three Drops Of Oil

I would guess that many remember the story from II Kings 4. It doesn’t matter if it is an actual story or not (well, for many it does), what matters is that we get the point of the story, that we mine the truth from the story. And then we see if “our story” needs an application of the principle(s) found there. In other words, how’s this story apply to you, other than as an intellectual exercise?

Elisha has needs and the widow’s house that he’s in has only three drops of oil in her flask.

So, Elisha says to her, “Borrow as many empty jars (some translations say 3- I’ll let you decide which one is the inerrant translation) as you can from your friends and neighbors. Then go into your house with your sons and shut the door behind you. Pour olive oil from your flask into the jars, setting the jars aside as they are filled.”

By being obedient to the word, her next car and house payment can be made. Yours too!

In actuality the Bible says that Elisha says, “Now sell the olive oil and pay your debts, and there will be enough money left over to support you and your sons.” Let me translate the spirit of this, at least as I see it.

1-You are the widow! Me too.
2-We are barren (as she) and have no way to be impregnated with wealth.
3-But if we go WITHIN (he told her to close the door) where I AM, supply will be found.

In other words, if she’ll obey her consciousness, that still small voice, the I AM that she is, that we all ARE, not looking at the “facts”, not allowing our “senses” to dictate what is truth, all supply will be available for every need. That’s what I believe!

The OIL is our JOY and our JOY is our strength as the prophet Zechariah reminds us.

Have you lost your joy, your direction, your purpose, your supply? GO WITHIN! NOW! :-)
