Victim Theology

At the Democratic Convention Monday night Nancy Pelosi urged the Hillary backers to not fall into the victim mentality. Say what? From my perspective, the Democratic party has been one of the biggest purveyors of the victim mentality with all of their welfare programs and more than equal rights issues. But, the Democratic party has to take a back seat to the church when it comes to “victim propoganda”. Think about it.

The Bible kicks off the first book (Genesis in case you’re not familair with it) with a couple of major accolades that the church seems to have forgotten. We’re told that we’re created in the IMAGE of God. How about them tamales? And when God created all that material worldly stuff, it was only with the creation of us homo sapien sapiens that God said, ‘Way cool” (actually most translations say very good, but I like way cool).

So, in the Hebraic tradition wherein God issued 10 commandments, they expanded the ten to 613 in no time at all and then added from there, we Greek-Roman-Western Christians went VICTIM! In case you missed it the Christian church has this doctrine that says we’re junk from the get-go. We’ve no sooner broken out of the water sack and had the umbilical cord severed and we’re on the wrong side of the (religions) LAW!

Original SIN-ners!

Frank Kafka said, “Original sin, the old injustice committed by man, consists in the complaint unceasingly made by man that he has been the VICTIM of an injustice, the victim of original sin.” When one tries to tell people about the religious God who handicaps us from the get-go and then records our every mis-step, and ultimately ships us off to an eternal-infinite hell for finite sins.

Who wants or needs such a God? Not moi!

But there is GOOD NEWS and Jesus brought it, but many haven’t bought it. The church likes to keep people under the “sin management” process so the people will ahve to keep coming back and back to confess, and then confess some more. I’m for confession. It’s a good thing; however, enough already. Confess your and God’s goodness too.

We’re children of God and therefore NOT VICTIMS!

It’s time to BREAK OUT OF THE BOX!

You know, if I had to name one thing that I “knew” was wrong during my 59 years of traditional religion as a Baptist, it was “original sin”. It made no sense to me. I just didn’t know there was an alternative. Amen, we are not victims!

Sin is cultural and environmental- not biological.

Been listening to your sermons. So far, the most inspiring is:
“A New Heart”. Thanks for providing them for us non-members.
