It used to be Liberty Revival Church, but I think those days have been history. It wasn’t an intentional thing. It just happened and I’m believing it’s been in the heart of God all along. We just awoke to that fact. By that I don’t mean that I know what the next phase in our life, as LR C will look like, but it certainly won’t be the same. Church doesn’t meet on Friday nights. Church demands a tithe mini message at each meeting. Church demands an alter call at the end. And the pastor certainly doesn’t admit that there are mistakes in the Bible. Get the picture? LRC doesn’t fit the “church image” any more.
Ever since LRC was founded nearly 20 years ago (Sept. 6, 1987), a few have felt like the “C” in our name stood for CULT! It’s such an easy way to turn people away from others- to divide and discredit, you know. It’s the church thing to do in America!
It’s easy to see how the “C” would stand for CULTURE since that’s been a major part of our “raison d’etre” through CultureShapers and being a transforming agent of the church culture as well.
But the “C” also stands for the COMMUNITY with which we are building. It sometimes seems like we’re more deconstructing; however, whatever you want to call it, there is a community of sojourners being established to form the NEW LRC. What that will look like come the fourth quarter at our new digs at 10225 Woodedge, only God knows.
Ultimately though, the “C” I believe, stands for CONSCIOUSNESS (can you say Spirit?). That word scares a lot of people, but not those who know the concept. The world is changing and a group of people who are UNITED, committed to one another as a COMMUNITY of dedicated servants, and who raise their spiritual consciousness to another level, can SAVE A CITY!
Tomorrow, I’ll review some of the HOW‘s on that point.
