Who Wrote The Bible?

This is really a simple question; however, we find people killing each other over the answer. The Bible was written by 75-100 men! No women! Now there’s another question we could ask ourselves, but in an age of patriarchy, we know the answer now don’t we? Lest you think I’m a heretic, those men were inspired by the Holy Spirit.

The author of the Bible is of course the Holy Spirit; however, He used men. He used the men’s character, personality, and oddities. I mean laying naked on your side in public?

Since we do not have even one original or historical manuscript, we’re gingerly walking our way through a minefield, and we should do so with humility. God, being God though, is capable of preserving and giving us enough insights to His nature that we’re not fatherless.

We need to get back to the core of who God is. Love! There will always be debates about the Bible, as there should be; however, we need not lose our temper in so discussing. Mike Yaconelli put it this way, “Evangelicals are moving away from seeing Scripture as battleground and to seeing it as a place where they meet God”.

Whether you interpret the Bible literally or metaphorically (or a host of other options), interpret and treat it sacramentally.

Well, we aren’t really sure who wrote the Letter to the Hebrews, and one theory is that it might have been Priscilla.

And sometimes it doesn’t matter who wrote it, but what is the Spirit saying through whoever DID write it? :-)
God still uses the foolish to confound the wise. I Cor. 1:27
