When someone approaches me and wants to ask me a Bible question, I have a question that needs to be answered first. The question might be disguished by asking how do you read the Bible? That will give me a clue as to how deep or educated they are in the question. My second question is usually which Bible translation do you like or use. And then my third question is the killer, how do your primarily translate the bible?
Your Bible translation gives me a clue as to who you think wrote the Bible and how I should be prepared to answer the question that they are about to ask. Briefly, and I’ll explain in future comments, did MAN write the Bible under some guidance from the Holy Spirit, or did the Holy Spirit basically write it using man to pen the words under something akin to “automatic writing“?
Back to the Bible. What’s my definition of the Bible? I’ll lay that out and then we can go from there in future reasons why I’ve adopted it as my definition.
It’s 39 words long.
I believe the Bible is the WORD of God, expressing His will to us: INERRANT in the original autographs; INSPIRED as a unique composition, communicating His nature and being through various genres; and INFALLIBLE in its transformational salvistic mission.
