Cracking the Religious Egg
October 1, 2006 - Almost everyone wants to go "on" with God, and yet we want to hold on to where we are and have been. You can't steal second base with your foot on first, and you can't go "on" with God while holding on to current beliefs and habits. What are you ready to say, “goodbye” to in order to move deeper into relationship with God? Click here to listen. Time: 45:38 \\ Size: 20.9 MB
Passion for Justice
September 17, 2006 - We have mistakenly thought that the word justice was the opposite of mercy, and therein we have kept our distance from any acts or concepts that got near to the concept. The Kingdom of God is a phrase that's shorthand for the heart of God. May we once again focus our eyes and efforts to bringing the justice of heaven here on earth. Our lives will be much richer as a result.Click here to listen. Time: 35:15 \\ Size: 16.2 MB
Spiritual Awakening Realities
September 10, 2006 - Sometimes our sails open far enough to allow the winds of the Spirit to catch and lift us right up out of the water, taking us on a thrill ride that is both scary and exhilirating. There are times you think you'll capsize, but you wouldn't go back to the calm see of mediocrity and playing it safe if you had the option!Click here to listen. Time: 50:36 \\ Size: 23.2 MB
Living By Design?
August 27, 2006 - In America, designer jeans, purses and various apparel is our stock in trade. Name brands can be found on the back of shirts (Tommy Bahama) and just about anywhere. But are we living by design spiritually? Are we living as to the plan and purpose that God had in mind when He created us? To live according to our desires violates Psalm 37:4 and is a sure road to a miserable life. What's God's design for your life?Click here to listen. Time: 41:47 \\ Size: 19.1 MB
Destruction or Deconstruction?
August 20, 2006 - When we survey church history, it's obvious that the church has made many mistakes. To not engage in honest dialogue and reflections as to what our faith is about is to continue walking in deception. Untested faith is no faith. But, in the examination as to what our beliefs are, we need to be careful that we're replacing what's being torn down with the truth in love; which is not always possible.Click here to listen. Time: 37:46 \\ Size: 17.3 MB
Reconciliation or Revenge?
August 13, 2006 - The Bible says that we are ambassadors of reconciliation; however, because of an overzealous literal interpretation of the Scriptures, and especially of hell, many have an unhealthy fear of God. God is love. God is not looking to 'nail' us but to love us. Too many people think that God is looking for us to mess up and likewise we look for people to burn (Salem Witches). It's time to get back to the truth of who God is: a loving Father who stands patiently, waiting for us to return home.Click here to listen. Time: 46:51 \\ Size: 21.5 MB
Jesus - The Image of God
August 6, 2006 - Why is it that so many people have an Old Testament image of God when Jesus said He came to correct that wrong image? Why do Christians keep going back to the angry, vengeful, retributive image when Jesus brought a loving and forgiving image to us and called all of this GOOD NEWS?Click here to listen. Time: 38:46 \\ Size: 17.8 MB
Free to Be
July 30, 2006 - We are free to be and live the greatest possible life that one can imagine, but for some reason, too many choose a different life. In our egoic state we somehow think that our way and our plans are better than God's. We have been hard-wired and created to be so much more than we are. Isn't it about time we started trusting God for the BEST of life, instead of living our mediocre one?Click here to listen. Time: 42:25 \\ Size: 19.5 MB
Seeking Wisdom
July 23, 2006 - Jesus was a wisdom teacher among other things; however, he was not a conventional wisdom thinker. Jesus was a subversive wisdom advocate. He didn't rest on Sunday, He healed on Sunday, He didn't wash His hands before eating, and He ate with sinners and prostitutes. Worst of all, He said that prostitutes and tax collectors would inherit the Kingdom of God before the Pharisees did. What's that do for your religious paradigm?Click here to listen. Time: 49:20 \\ Size: 22.6 MB
Love's Daring Rescue
July 16, 2006 - Too many people have a fearful image of a God who sends down wrath upon a sinful people. However, Jesus came and showed us an entirely different picture of a loving Father. Then, He demonstrated that love by submitting Himself to an incredible, gruesome crucifixion on our behalf. How can we not embrace such love?Click here to listen. Time: 36:45 \\ Size: 16.9 MB
Vulnerable Fools
July 9, 2006 - Unfortunately, Western Christianity likes to dress up in its best theological and intellectual garments. The way of the cross is a path of descent where we become "poor of spirit", which means we realize that we don't have it all together, nor do we know it all. It's not just where we begin, it's where the journey leads us; and it's okay!Click here to listen. Time: 41:53 \\ Size: 19.2 MB
Bob Dyer - Setting a Kingdom Table
July 2, 2006 - In the simple act of eating a meal together, we can discover many truths about the Kingdom of God. Is there anything that has kept you from the table? Are you spiritually obese? Anorexic? It's time for a new meal!Click here to listen. Time: 1:00:34 \\ Size: 27.76 MB
Hot Tears or Hot Tubs?
June 25, 2006 - There are two symbols that represent the great divide in our society. There are the hot tears of the poor and marginalized segment of our society that are hurting. There are also the hot tubs of the well-to-do. The poor know the price of everything in a grocery store while the wealthy just buy. It's not an "either-or" but an "and-also". However, it is a wake-up call for those in power around the world. The Kingdom is about many things, but minimally it is about sharing and being compassionate.Click here to listen. Time: 53:19 \\ Size: 24.45 MB
The Weeds of the Father
June 18, 2006 - Throughout America, Christians celebrated Father's Day this Sunday. Unfortunately, not enough will do so. Too many fathers are not. Too many sons and daughters grow up without a loving and caring father. Luckily, we all have two fathers, but forgiving the natural one is the first step to enjoying the spiritual one. Where that's not possible, there is always grace, because all fathers come with some weeds in their life.Click here to listen. Time: 49:57 \\ Size: 22.8 MB
The Wilderness Journey
June 11, 2006 - In America particularly you can choose to "skip the trip". At least that way you can take responsibility for what comes your way. What's really a bummer though is when a person thinks they're on the journey (to find God) but they're only chasing a religious shadow. A real Christian journey comes with far more dangers than we're willing to face or admit.Click here to listen. Time: 43:21 \\ Size: 10.63 MB
A Simple Story
June 4, 2006 - While we exegete the Scriptures meticulously, analyze each word in the Greek and Hebrew, look for the meaning of the tenses, compare Strong Concordance numbers, and other grammatical insights, we would be well served to also take into consideration that the Bible is a compilation of 66 books that all point to a simple love story. The love of a Father for His Son, and the love of the Son for His Father.Click here to listen. Time: 01:03:24 \\ Size: 29.06 MB
Kenny Brigman - True Service
May 28, 2006 - The greatest law is love, and love is best expressed to God and man through serving. We have to get out of self-righteous service and begin true service - which builds community and gives us the chance to reach the world.Click here to listen. Time: 51:03 \\ Size: 23.4 MB
Chitlins, Sushi and Questions
May 14, 2006 - Christians should be the most tolerant people on the planet! However, far too many will fly into a rage at even a simple question that appears to be counter to their personal belief system. George Bernard said, "Some people see things and say, 'why?' Others see things and say, 'why not?'" Aren't Christians supposed to be a people who are on a journey, in search or truth, with no road maps, but only a compass... called Jesus?Click here to listen. Time: 44:04 \\ Size: 22.30 MB
Cultural Myths
May 7, 2006 - There are so many things that we know are true and yet are not. There are so many things that I used to believe that I don't know; and how many of those things that I now believe, will I still believe tomorrow? We know the world is full of cultural myths, so what do we call the things we now embrace that are not of God?Click here to listen. Time: 48:37 \\ Size: 22.30 MB
Rescue & Renewal
April 30, 2006 - Unfortunately, the church is asking questions of God that make no sense, like, "Is yellow square or round?" and, "How many hours are there in a mile?" While we should be asking Him what His will is for rescuing and renewing our lives and the planet we live on, we're instead more interested in the after-life. Come back to earth, saints!Click here to listen. Time: 47:22 \\ Size: 19.80 MB
PART TWO: How the New Testament Canon Evolved - A historical analysis with theological consequences
April 27, 2006 - The second half of this teaching, originally presented by Ernie Fitzpatrick during a Men's Discipleship Training meeting. (NOTE: The poor audio quality is due to the type of recording employed.)Click here to listen to Part Two. Time: 51:19 \\ Size: 17.6 MB
PART ONE: How the New Testament Canon Evolved - A historical analysis with theological consequences
April 27, 2006 - Very few people (including ministers) can tell you how, when or by what process the 27 books of the New Testament came about. Most perceptions are that somehow the Holy Spirit spoke to "some men" and voila!, the New Testament was canon. History shows it was a 300+ year battle for which group would win the pole position that would decide which books are considered valid... orthodox. Lest we forget though, while the books were canonized, the translations of those books are not canonized! (NOTE: This teaching was originally presented by Ernie Fitzpatrick during one of the Thursday night Men's Discipleship Training meetings. The audio quality is poor due to the type of recording employed.)Click here to listen to Part One. Time: 42:36 \\ Size: 14.63 MB
Story-Directed Lives
April 23, 2006 - The Bible is filled with hundreds of stories within one big story. To a large degree our lives are like computers that are being operated by a software program that is filled with images, pictures, and stories that power our existence. If we can grasp the reality of the stories of the Bible, that truth will set us free beyond anything we've seen or imagined.Click here to listen. Time: 54:15 \\ Size: 18.81 MB
Jesus: The Son of God
Easter Sunday, April 16, 2006 - Only God knows what Jesus' awareness was about Himself. As I read the Scriptures, it appears to me that Jesus felt that He was the Jewish Messiah; however, I can't find any evidence that He had the sense that He was the second person in the Trinity. On this side of the cross though, we know that He is the only begotten Son of God.Click here to listen. Time: 38:10 \\ Size: 17.51 MB
Jesus: The Movement Founder
April 9, 2006 - Jesus didn't come to start a new religion (Christianity), but to reform an old one (Judiasm): one He defined as the Kingdom of God. He saw Himself as the Jewish Messiah, which has nothing to do with being the 2nd person of the trinity or the incarnate son of God.Click here to listen. Time: 56:03 \\ Size: 23.41 MB
Jesus: A Social Prophet
April 2, 2006 - Jesus is neither liberal or conservative, but a Kingdom candidate. There is no doubt that Jesus felt that He was the fulfillment and consummation of Israel's long line of prophets. He knew that He was Israel's Messiah which is an entirely different concept than incarnation. He offered to Israel and the world an entirely new social order and way of life.Click here to listen. Time: 58:45 \\ Size: 26.9 MB
Jesus: A Wisdom Teacher
March 26, 2006 - Jesus was a subversive sage who taught unlike any before Him or since. One cannot wrap their mind around the Bible or the teachings of Jesus by using conventional thinking or logic. The call to repent means to go beyond your current level of thinking, to move into the realm of the Spirit, where scandalous concepts challenge us to take life a notch higher... every day!Click here to listen. Time: 59:12 \\ Size: 24.7 MB
Jesus: A Spirit Person
March 19, 2006 - When we realize that Jesus was fully human, as we are, our perspective on life changes. If we're to do greater works than He did while He was yet human, when will that start? What's not lining up in our lives that Jesus says we should be doing? Where are the "spirit experiences"?Click here to listen. Time: 46:46 \\ Size: 19.53 MB
Dudley Hall - The "Wow-ness" of the Gospel
March 12, 2006 - For too long, we have preached the "how" of the Gospel without first announcing the "WOW!" We have plenty of "how-to" sermons that teach us the five points to becoming better people, but when we hear the "wow" of the Good News - it changes everything!Click here to listen. Time: 41:17 \\ Size: 18.9 MB
Dudley Hall - Encouragement to parents...
