TESTIMONIALS FROM THE TWO DAYS

Thank you for bringing Richard to speak at LRC live! Everything he said was amazing. How can one man take so many complex things and make them seem so simple? Incredible! So many things he said were poignant. One of the biggest take a ways for me is: “For many males anger is really repressed sadness without a safe outlet.” Wow!

There are no other word’s to explain this weekend for me except “FREEDOM” from every lying thought, from every wrong teaching, from every wrong emotion, from every wrong judgment, from every wrong prejudices, WOW. I wasn’t able to make the Friday night service but I did buy the CD, and it was oh just so what our Church is about and out people are about and our God is about, please I encourage everyone to get this message, everyone.

Thank you Ernie for swimming upstream against what we simple minded people want or think is best for us. God is truly in control of our Church and of our teaching’s and of our walk. It’s because of you and our Elder’s who do what you know Jesus would do not matter what…..the cost or price…..I love your obedience…..may we all walk in the light better now. Love ya all

It’s the first time that I have had a chance to attend a weekend session from beginning to end in a long time. Thanks for pulling this off, and we’re thrilled to be a part of the LRC journey. What a refreshing (and ego-shaking) set of teachings! I think that all in attendance were struck by the truth, including the walls of religious “control tower” coming down, along with the respect/embrace of the “not-my-way” that was in that room Don’t “bleep” a thing from those DVDs. You know something God has happened when you go home, experience a deep discomfort in your status quo and then don’t have the words to explain it.. Maybe “transforming” comes to mind? It’s getting easier to realize that the True Self is manifest(able) more and more and when that happens, the world around you can be changed.

From the brief exposure I had to him, I don’t think I have ever met anyone who just exudes the love of Christ in such a natural way.

After Friday and Saturday I feel so full and relaxed, satisfied and at peace. So much of what Richard spoke was SPIRIT. All I’ve been taught by the Spirit was confirmed if I ever had any doubt it’s been put to rest. It also gave me direction. Calling Richard, father, is an honor. Thank you for your courage in following the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as best you know how and allowing them to BE in you. Loving what God is doing in our hearts! Jesse and Ginger were “out of this world” too!

God is incredible! We are so fortunate to have eaten from the banquet table that was laid before us. I am still so appreciative of the eldership team who should be commended for the many risks that have been taken over the last 2 years (really over the course of LRC & beyond as Rohr affirms “Everything Belongs” and no experience is wasted….).

We spent a little time with visitors that came in from Austin…their comment was they “felt so welcome by everyone” but went on and on saying thank you for allowing Richard to come into our church and share…something that not just any church would allow.

Things seem so much clearer for some reason now Ernie. Father Rohr (I say that because I feel he’s earned the title) put so many, many things in perspective for me today. The way he stomped his foot, and his “colorful” use of English, was so real, so down to this earth, yet extremely powerful in content. I laughed, a lot! I wept! At times it appeared as though I was experiencing a feeling of being that can only be described as.. Elation! Everything he said, I felt I’ve always known, or questioned, and now I can put away some very old, very outdated ego based…stuff! Can you say liberation? Oh man! I shook his hand on the way out. His grip was a surprise to me. He has hands where like iron, but his grip, while firm, conveyed a gracious gentleness that is difficult to put into words. What an uplifting, clarifying experience!

I thought it was INCREDIBLE!!! His openness, wisdom, humility, compassion, integrity were so very apparent! I could listen to him for days!

Talk about bringing the best wine out at the beginning of the party (banquet)! I must say that Rohr is awesome! The tuning fork has been struck and WOW what a resonance…a reflection of HIS image that has gone out to HIS sons and daughters. This is the most exciting time…a wonderful journey to be on!

Rohr was great. He presented the most complete and comprehensive explanation of the Christian life I have heard. He was stimulating and his views challenging as once again we are confronted with getting in the “zone” with God and truly being the salt and light on earth. Strangely I walked away with feelings of both comfort and anxiety as I thought about my take a ways and what I will assimilate in my life. The good news for me is that I have been on this journey for four years now and what he offered more than anything is a depth and cohesiveness that books and others haven’t provide.

I really appreciated his understanding of church history, his references to the mystics and providing us with explanations of Catholic traditions. I couldn’t help but think how few Catholics (including priests) understand the reasoning behind the rituals and how I wished I was taught the same when I was attending Catholic grade school, high school and college. He has a genuine depth and authenticity rarely found…I believe he communicates with such ease because he has been on a constant journey of discovery…he lives what he speaks. Hearing and discussing these concepts with some repetition is probably necessary if we are to absorb fully what was presented. Bring him back!

It was awesome, liberating and I’m so exited. I had the opportunity to share the teaching with my wife, which received it in earnests. She is even sharing our latest developments with our former pastor in Venezuela and the response has been more than favorable. I need to get a copy of yesterdays teaching (DVD or CD) to send to Vzla. Does Richard Rohr have any material in Spanish? Anyway, I feel so blessed and it is rubbing of. Awesome

Thank you for inviting “anyone” to the Richard Rohr conference. We enjoyed the conference, and enjoyed you, all the people there. You are truly doing Christ’s work. J&M K. from Austin Texas

About Richard…

Father Richard Rohr is a Franciscan of the New Mexico Province. He was the founder of the New Jerusalem Community in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1971, and the Center for Action and Contemplation in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1986, where he presently serves as Founding Director.

Richard was born in 1943 in Kansas. He entered the Franciscans in 1961 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1970. He received his Master’s Degree in Theology from Dayton that same year. He now lives in a hermitage behind his Franciscan community in Albuquerque, and divides his time between local work, and preaching and teaching on all continents. He considers the proclamation of the Gospel to be his primary call, and uses many different platforms to communicate that message. Scripture as liberation, the integration of action and contemplation, community building, peace and justice issues, male spirituality, the enneagram, and eco-spirituality would all be themes that he addresses in service of the Gospel.

He is probably best known for his numerous audio and video tapes, and through the Center’s publication, Radical Grace. He is a regular contributing editor/writer for Sojourners magazine and recently published a 7-part Lenten Series for the National Catholic Reporter. His best known books are Simplicity, The Wild Man’s Journey, Quest for the Grail, Everything Belongs, Hope Against Darkness, The Enneagram, A Christian Perspective, and Job and the Mystery of Suffering. His best selling tapes are the tape overview called The NEW Great Themes of Scripture.

His latest book is Adam’s Return: The Five Promises of Male Initiation from Crossroad Publishing.   A second edition of Wild Man’s Journey, revised and updated, is due out in Fall of 2005.
