Joe- Thankfully we're getting there! The consciousness of who we are, our true identity (<strong>light & LOVE</strong>) is expanding to more and more people; however, mainline Christianity is a long way from SEEING it, but you never know what might change all of that in the "blinking of an eye". :-)

The biggest problem with the church is that the bible is a history book instead of a love story. In other words religion keeps you trapped in the past and and loaded down with facts and you are always living in fear of change, but when you awakenen to the love of God you live in the now and all things become alive in you which gives you the courage to change and not just survive anymore.Yes, love is new every moment and sets you free from the past and gives you all the energy you need to live life the way it was meant to be.So live in love for God is love.

If I have a scarey stack of bills I have doubt. Then a check comes in & I relax with a tad less anxiety--but the faith remains. More faith is certainly required staring at the bills (which I do my best to keep to a minimum.) Thank God I have not had to deal with the example you quoted from Tom Harpour.
So--now that you are no longer a pastor & simply a pastoral spiritual guide; guess what? So am I. But, then you knew that! Now that I am expected to plume whatever depths of whichever version of the bible I am led to, meditate & hear from God myself I also have to learn to articulte my position. Either that or deflect question with question as I walk the eclesiastical tightrope which spiritual discourse has become these days.

I see agnosticism as a healthy form of self expression simply because it leaves open the possibility of so much more (or less), depending on one's perceptions. At the end of the day, I am still agnostic about a great many things :)

jbf: We really have no choices other than to come back to the truth and reality of who (what) we are- SPIRIT BEINGS; and therein love is not lost (as we know it), but true love (God's unconditional love) is re-discovered.
PS. Wonder why so many who accept only a "literal" approach to the Scriptures you mentioned, but when it comes to <strong>stoning disobedient children</strong> (Deut. 21:18-21), they don't apply, etc.? :-(

Your commentary struck a chord with me this morning. What if the statements made in Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 (and echoed by Paul in Romans 1:27) TRANSCEND the issue of sexuality altogether? Could we take our interpretation of those passages to a higher, mystical level? Perhaps we are being reminded in very dramatic terms to incorporate the Divine Feminine into our practice and understanding of Consciousness. The masculine, patriarchal God figure is moving towards the brink of extinction, but this extinction hasn't been without its pains. We need only look at the "abominations" that have occurred in our planetary history as evidence of such.

So many are renewing their tired concepts of God, and whether we refer to the Divine Principle as It, She, Her, Him, He, They or Them, we must begin to realize that Consciousness goes beyond the organization of sex, representing a true balance of all that is symbolized by the fusion of male and female. Will we continue to have "men lie with men" (metaphorically speaking of course), or will we celebrate the mystical union of Mother Earth and Father Sky?

Rich: Oh yeah! In so many ways Jesus was NOTHING like what the church has become. Jesus was a <strong>subversive teacher</strong> as an example, while the church has doctrinally dumbed-down the Kingdom with either religious peyote or dogmatic opiate as Karl Marx declared. :-(
